In April 2014, Quality Associates, Inc (QAI) attended and exhibited at the 30th Society of Quality Assurance (SQA) Annual Meeting & Quality College held at the fabulous Cosmopolitan hotel spa and casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Casey Howell from QAI’s Minnesota office and Dan Carey from our Maryland corporate office attended. The meeting was well attended by quality assurance professionals from industry (CROs, sponsors, consultants, etc), government regulatory, and academia.
The keynote speaker was Dr. Leroy Chio, a US astronaut, who offered his perspective on leadership, decision making and multi cultural issues. No matter the attendees discipline, pharmaceuticals, manufacturing, or pesticides, there was a wide range of topics covered in the various seminars. These included basic GLP training, animal welfare, clinical trials, bioanalytical studies, conducting international studies, study management and cloud computing. As always, the meeting ended with the regulatory update from Francis Liem, USEPA; Vernon Toelle, Jean Toth-Allen and Robert Tollefesen, USFDA; Gabriele Schwarz, Germany; and Rassoulou Diallo, Canada.
As you might assume it wasn’t all work in Las Vegas. Attendees were able to enjoy the hotel’s pool, casino, and restaurants or attend one of two sponsored events; an Elton John concert or taking a tour of Hoover dam.
The meeting was a success for QAI, reestablishing old connections and making new ones. We will see everyone at next year’s meeting in Tampa Bay, Florida.
